| | FAQSWhere does your teak come from? Our teak come from the Indonesia government agency, PT Perhutani, which is responsible for managing this resource according to sustained-yield practice. The teak is harvested from plantation in Central and Eastern Java. Why does new teak furniture sometimes have dark or orange streaks? This coloration can result from kilning process which is used to lower the moisture content of the wood prior to manufacture. Kilning bring some natural oils to the surface of the wood causing the streaking you see. These streaks are normal and will dissapear with exposure to the sun. Should I use teak oil on my furniture? Treating your furniture with teak oil is not necessary. it will not extend the life of your furniture and is purely cosmetic. We do not recommend oiling your furniture unless you are prepared to do this on a regular ongoing basis. My teak has small cracks. Is it OK? Teak is a natural material. Fine cracks in the end grain of components may appear and then dissapear with changes in the weather (this is called checking). Such fine cracks are normal, especially in the thicker components, and will not affect the life or serviceability of your furniture. Why are there gaps between the slats of table tops? Gaps allow rain to pass through rather than settle in puddles on the table surface, thereby extending the life of your furniture and decreasing maintenance requirements.
